What is Connectow?
CONNECTOW is a collaborative project between the city of Wavre, Citymesh and the European Union. The project places the city on the international map as one of the first real smart cities in Europe. Thanks to the support and supervision of the European Union, the city of Wavre provides connectivity for all its residents, visitors, schools, entrepreneurs, emergency services and government services.
Together, we focus on health care, education and social inclusion. Taking everyone into tomorrow, that is our goal, that is CONNECTOW.
Benefits for everyone
Connectivity is a real basic need. That is why everyone will feel the power of CONNECTOW and will be able to enjoy the various projects.
Safety
The Safety Drone helps security services act more decisively and efficiently in the event of an accident or disaster. Thanks to this solution, they get an overall picture of the magnitude and seriousness of the incident. This allows them to make targeted decisions right away. In this way, we not only guarantee the safety of residents, but also that of our heroes.
In addition, the Dyle will also be actively monitored. We do this on the basis of smart flowmeters that regularly forward the water levels to a central dashboard. For example, we build predictive models and work to prevent floods.
Wellbeing
Thanks to our solutions, such as Air Quality Meters, we measure air quality in crucial places, such as at school gates or in the city center. Through the data collected, we know where and when to intervene to ensure the health of each resident.
Mobility
We are also making rapid progress in terms of mobility. By using smart sensors, we monitor traffic flows in the city center and the access roads. This way, policy makers can make well-founded and well-considered choices and adjust the mobility plan where necessary.
Together, we are looking for a happy medium to get both weak road users and those who travel by car to their destinations safely and quickly.
42.11 km² of connectivity
The project covers the entire territory of Wavre and the districts of Limal and Bierge, providing around 42.11 km² of connectivity for everyone, everywhere.
This connectivity makes many new solutions possible. In this way, we can help move health care, education and social inclusion forward.
Many of these solutions will lead us to new insights, allowing us to respond more quickly where there is a need for change. In addition, emergency services are assisted by the Safety Drone so that they too can work in a more focused and efficient way.
